At least 16 people are on death row in Pakistan for blasphemy and at least 20 are serving life sentences. Many others are in prison despite not having been convicted.

At least 52 people accused of blasphemy have been lynched since 1990, according to a 2012 report from the Islamabad-based Center for Research and Security Studies think tank.

This all because western cournties and America has pushed such kind of blesphemy cases to establish in Pakistan, resultantly, killings of men from both sides took place.

Defence lawyer in blasphemy case shot dead in Multan-Pakistan

Armed gunmen shot dead a lawyer defending a university lecturer accused of blasphemy in the southern Pakistani city of Multan on Wednesday, officials said.

"Armed gunmen stormed the chamber of Rashid Rehman and started indiscriminate firing on Wednesday evening, injuring Rehman and two of his associates present there" senior police official Zulfiqar Ali told AFP.

He said the three were rushed to Nishtar hospital where doctors pronounced Rehman dead upon arrival while the two wounded were receiving treatment.

Rehman was representing Junaid Hafeez, a lecturer at Bahauddin Zakariya University, accused of making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Mohammed in March last year.
